Maybe it's just me, but I'm surrounded by dead wood. And after 10 years of consulting, being brought in to fix things that the Institutional Whitebodies are unable to fix, I've come to think that most wages in the new economy are a waste. A lot of these companies that are burning $4M/month for next to zero revenue would be a lot better off if they just got rid of their dead wood. Then they might only be burning $1m/mo.
I used to think that law firms were the model: you bill or you die. But I've met so many lawyers who aren't worth the toilet paper their degrees were printed on that I no longer believe this.
