are the same sex couples married couples ? in that case that could (?) explain 
some differences. i suspect (personal exp ???) that in married couples a 
person would take the presence of her/his partner more for granted than in an 
unmarried (gay) couple, where the strategies to stay together would imply more 
attempts at understanding the partner. maybe the gender conflicts mentioned in 
the articles are reinforced by marriage ?
