Sure. That's been discussed. But

1. Freenet doesn't help with httpd logs, since the point there is to

keep them secure from prying, governmental eyes; that is, they can

be considered analogous to privileged notes of a journalist, as

they can be used to reveal the identity of people ("sources") who

use the IMC site. Rubberhose is more useful than Freenet for the

httpd *logs*.

2. Freenet isn't quite mature enough to be able to use w/out

significant sysadmin work (at least, that's the last word I heard

about it), and the IMC Tech collective is perpetually shorthanded

3. IMC *content* -- which benefit from being censor and tamper proff

-- will almost certainly eventually be copied to Freenet by means

of some gateway; and that will likely happen once Freenet is

mature, widely deployed, and some IMC techies get time to make it

happen.

Interestingly, if Napster gets its filter system in place, and starts the subscription service, there will be an influx of attention and use of both Freenet and Mojo Nation, which may aid their maturation. Having lots of different stuff on Freenet, like IMC content, will help both IMC and Freenet, since the latter needs to be used for purposes other than copyrighted-music swapping. Those other uses would seem to make it harder to shut down, legally, than if it's only being used a la Napster. But IANAL.

Best, Kendall Clark
