Then it was not very effective. Most people will not read anything that exceeds 1 screen of text, unless they have a good reason to do so. In the good old school of writing, the first paragraph of an essay had to present such a reason. Assuming that people will read anything simply because it is written is a bit unrealistic, to say the least. Yet another reason to make a succinct argument instead of inundating audience with cut-and-paste computer output.
