Was looking for news about the anthrax discovered here in KC yesterday, as reported in this morning's KC Star, and found this 1999 news about anthrax threats at abortion clinics. Note the last sentence that this was not an isolated case, although all "were revealed to be hoaxes." ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Catholic World News - News Brief - 02/23/1999 Catholic World News is available for daily delivery by email and news stories may be browsed and searched online. Kansas City Abortion Clinic Receives Anthrax Threat KANSAS CITY, Missouri (CWNews.com) - A Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Kansas City was evacuated on Monday and its workers treated for possible exposure to anthrax after a threatening letter was received at the facility. More than 20 people were treated at area hospitals for possible exposure to the potentially lethal disease after a package was opened Monday morning that included a note that said it was contaminated. About 100 federal and local law enforcement officials went to the clinic to investigate. More than a dozen abortion clinics, pro-life crisis pregnancy centers, and federal agencies have received anthrax threats that were revealed to be hoaxes since last year.
