Noting the demotion of peace movement activities by the commercial press, the Reverend will honor the Independent Media Center and the Paper Tiger Video Collective in the opening Sundays. Also, the group of citizens who have battled the Parks Commission in keeping the mourning shrine at Union Square from nightly "cleansing and collecting" will receive "Sainthood" at the opening Sunday, November 4th. Other activists will be honored at future services. See Revbilly.com.

A message from Reverend Billy of the Church of Stop Shopping (currently the Church of Stop Bombing):

This is an invitation to REVEREND BILLY'S PEACE REVIVAL, a series of Sunday performances at 7 PM.

After our first two services at The Culture Project Theater, at 45 Bleecker, on Nov. 4th and 11th, we will march to Union Square. Please bring with you to these shows the things that the city has been taking away.... candles, poems, flags, earth flags, photos, messages about loved ones and whatever you wish to say.

And, those first two performances, on the 4th and 11th, we will canonize-- in our "Stop Bombing" sainthood ritual-- leaders of Independent Media Center (the 4th) and Paper Tiger video collective and the Living Theater (the 11th). We are gathering as best we can the people who have gone to Union Square every night, the breakdancers, speechifiers, players and singers.

Our church band, with hip hop preachers, kungas and trumpets, is The Welfare Poets. Our gospel pianist is Rick Ulfik.

Tickets are $10 and we pass the plate for the groups we are honoring.

Reserve by replying to:revbilly at revbilly.com or by calling 212 253 9983. The church venue is The Culture Project theater @ 45 Bleecker, near Lafayette, in downtown New York. It's near the 6, the F, the N & R.
