World Economic Forum to move Davos business summit
Updated: Tue, Nov 06 5:56 AM EST By Knut Engelmann ZURICH, Nov 6 (Reuters) - The World Economic Forum will move its 2002 annual meeting of the world's business and political elite to New York from its traditional venue in the Swiss ski resort of Davos, sources close to the decision said on Tuesday.
They said the mounting cost of providing security to the 2000-odd political and business leaders who traditionally attend the event, and a spat between organisers and the Swiss government over who should foot the bill, had prompted the move.
But the shift also aimed to highlight the WEF's commitment to promoting a global agenda on dealing with the aftermath of September 11 attacks on New York and Washington, they said. Full Story: http://news.excite.com/news/r/011106/05/financial-forum
