My impression is that Green lost out on black/Latino/Ferrer supporters bc of the moves he made to distance himself from them (dirty campaign, dissing Sharpton) and to cuddle up to rightist white voters. There was a piece in the Voice about how black voters were extremely alienated by the giving-Giuliani-3-more-months thing, and how it made them more amenable to Bloomberg's last minute overtures. I know he got a few last minute endorsements from black pols in BK.

This is anecdotal but I have to say me and some friends leafletted for Green with some qualms over his playing footsie with Bratton, but didn't really do anything for him after the Giuliani/Sharpton thing bc we really felt he was trying to distance himself from us and that he was going to win anyway. Yes, I regret it, but there you are. I was *astonished* by how high a percentage of the black vote Bberg got.
