You underestimate both the brutality and durability of local tyrants.
And I wonder, especially in the cross-cutting internal conflicts that
is Afghanistan, who might pose as an acceptable stand-in for the
masses? Is your take exempt from the very problem posed to
liberal western feminists who apparently have insufficiently
historized and contextualized the plight of Afghan women
while at the same time sensationalizing and conflating their
experiences?
