You underestimate both the brutality and durability of local tyrants. And I wonder, especially in the cross-cutting internal conflicts that is Afghanistan, who might pose as an acceptable stand-in for the masses? Is your take exempt from the very problem posed to liberal western feminists who apparently have insufficiently historized and contextualized the plight of Afghan women while at the same time sensationalizing and conflating their experiences?
