I agree. My answer to this problem is "see how others solved it" - trying to attain pie-in-the-sky utopias lost any appeal to me. I am particularly impressed by the Scandinavian solution and, to a somewhat lesser extent, Western European. One cosequence of that approach is dump the concept of "capitalism" (or any other trans-national system) as a useful analytical approach, and look at much lower units of aggregation, such as nationa states, institutions, and organizations.
