My position against prostitutes and unions is simple: I have my single greatest problem with the Cuban revolution and Fidel over this one, in fact. As Fidel sees it, it is not a gender exploitation problem in a socialist society, but rather simply greedy women. Thus, the Cuban government punishes the women. Bullocks. I say, both in Cuba and here in Vancouver, what is neccessary to do is massive attacks on the pimps and zero to none on the working women. Now, Kelley: A bit of vague info that won't go any more specific: I have personal contact with the issue vis-a-vis a close family member who worked the streets and got killed doing so. I have no interest in talking about this in the abstract with some rude individual on an e list. Vancouver has more women disappear than any other city in North America (per capita) and this is intimately tied to the fact Vancouver has the most heroin per capita. Thus a union could not do very much and would be treating cancer whilst they they lit the next cig.
