some people on the list are quite active, as i understand it. good. on the whole, however, there's an overabundance of prattling about the formalities of discourse and the same old internecine conflicts on the so-called left, and a shortage of posts that impart real information from sites round the web--real news and analysis being such scarce commodities now, by design.

lbo reminds me of nothing so much as chomsky's observation about the educated classes being the biggest ignoramuses of all when it comes to matters of ideological indoctrination. i don't know where luke weiger and justin schwartz went to school, e.g., or what it cost, but every cent was wasted--or very well-spent, depending on one's outlook.
