The RSV, Revised Standard Version is, really, the only copy worth reading if you're looking for any textual accuracy in translation.
Whatever happened to the NEB (New English Bible)? That seemed to be the scholarly translation at one time. But I'm thinking back 20 years. Don't even know if it's still available.
