I listened, and still do on the rare occasion, to "black metal" (albeit not every band in the scene; most of the instrumentals are truly godawful, even for metal). I've never heard any references to National Socialism or any urging to commit evil acts by the singer (in the lyrics; I've only listened to one "interview" and it was probably a mock one with a band called Venom, and there was no mention of the above) or anyone else I knew who indulged in the music. If anything, the whole "genre" is one involving theatrical antics like those employed by Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson.

The above was uttered by a complete asshole. But, for crude talking purposes, he had one correct idea: that Capital professes no religion. Note that this analysis does NOT excuse what the Nazis did; even were The Big Revolution to break out tomorrow, I, and I'm sure others on this list, would not hold one bit with murdering capitalists or professed capitalists or "The Rich". Taking away power and access to power, yes; murder, no.

There were plenty of "Christian Metal Bands" (Stryper and The Daniel Band to name two I know of; this sort of preaching, and that's what it was, never appealed to me); you're right: this writer has a lot of misplaced venom (no doubt adolescent), but so what?, so did I when I was younger (I think someone brought up an observation that Lefties tend to come from "bitter" and "angry" backgrounds too). This kid hopefully will grow in other, less idiotic, directions.

BTW, I did have time on my hands to check out that site. Not much beyond a freshman university philosophical essay. The kid's read too much Nietzsche without talking about it to someone who knows more about it. He's got logical errors up the wazoo. And his pompousness screams "Smack me hard! Please!"

The last sentence, standing by itself, is something I repeat when I feel the time is good (though I try to reduce the Bombast Factor):

>Whether or not we choose a more hopeful future hangs in the balance, but one thing is for certain: this >potential path of development does not include superstition.

Huh. Just read their "philosophy" page: more of the same tendentious bullshit. Most headbangers can't find a bookstore, much less any book on philosophy, so I find it hard to believe they'll "band together" and present their demands.

Proto-fascists, if not simple authoritarian bigots, in the making, definitely. Assuming they don't drink, drug, or deafen themselves into a stupor first.
