I think of myself as a leftist because I want to get along with my fellow sentient beings on a basis of peace, freedom and equality, not because I love them. Why should I love them? In most cases, we haven't even been introduced!
Why not leave love to Tin Pin Alley (resurrecting it if necessary -- I don't know what's out there these days) -- or better yet, to the tyrants, bigots and other mass murderers who are always on about it?
Love....
