Modern warfare with heavy weaponry -- even "Good Wars" like the US Civil War, (some parts of) the Second World War, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, etc. -- cannot but be brutal & indiscriminate. You aren't expecting modern warfare to resemble images from Arthurian Romance, are you?
