Isaac takes Chomsky's argument -- a reductio ad absurdum -- and disingenuously tries to insist that the absurd conclusion is in fact Chomsky's position -- that having pointed out the absurdity makes Chomsky "intellectually responsible" for it. Sullivan is so casual or careless in endorsing Isaac's words that he doesn't even seem to notice how mendacious they are.
This nasty performance does indeed raise the question of the reason for the widespread attacks on Chomsky (including SNL) in the last month. --CGE
