without doubt, U.S. response can go well or badly,
and it could be a while before we get an inkling.

the left's tendency to over-react and exaggerate
makes it a less credible critic of the action.
and its inclination to oppose any use of force,
whether on ostensibly practical grounds or under
the anti-imperialist rubric makes it an illegitimate
critic.  not good politics.
