---------> A Musical Chairs Foreign Policy

The United States has an alliance with Saudi Arabia. The Saudis have funded the Taliban and the (radical religious schools) madrassahs. The Pakistanis supported and financed the Taliban against the Soviets. The U.S. financed and supported the Taliban and Osama bin Laden against the Soviets. And, the government we're helping now to fight the Taliban is the Northern Alliance, which ruled Afghanistan for 4 years before being ousted by the Taliban in 1996, and is deeply distrusted by many Afghans and by Pakistan.

All of those who wish to form a new government in Afghanistan if the Taliban fall are also against the U.S. bombing campaign against Afghanistan and they all dislike the Northern Alliance. Of the 1,000 Afghans which just met in Pakistan to discuss forming a government in Afghanistan if the Taliban should fall none were from the Northern Alliance.

-----> Terrorism is NOT A NEW FORM OF WARFARE

Terrorism is not a new type of warfare. It has been practiced for centuries. --- The assassination of Julius Caesar in 41 B.C. was an act of terrorism. The Jewish zealots during Roman occupation of Judea were Sicarii. ---------- There was a "reign of terror" during the time of the Jacobins and partisans during the French Revolution in 1792 to 1794. --- The Serbian "Black Hand" guerillas who fought against the Austro Hungarians. --- The "Hashashin" was the "Brotherhood of Assassins", a radical Muslim sect during the middle ages. --- There were acts of terrorism in ancient Greece. --- The Macedonians (Macedonian Revolutionary Organization, IMRO) in the 19th century fought against Turkey. --- There were guerilla struggles of the underground during World War Two. ---- Fidel Castro fought a guerilla terrorist war against Batista in Cuba.

--------- The Zionist underground, the Stern Gang, Haganah, Irgun Tzvai Leumi all fought an underground-terrorist war against the British and the Palestinians in the 40s. ---- The Irish Republican Army (IRA) fought a terrorist war against the British. ---- There was the Weather Underground and Symbionese Liberation Army in the United States. ----- In the 70s and 80s there were revolutionary terrorist groups like the German Baader Meinhof Gang, the Italian Red Brigades, the Red Army Faction, the Japanese Red Army and the organization of "Carlos the Jackel" and Hezbollah, which massacred 241 U.S. marines in a suicide truck bombing in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1983 and Islamic Jihad which was responsible for hostage-taking of US citizens in Iran, and there are the suicide bombers in Israel.

-----> WWI

Terrorists assassinated the heir to the Austro Hungarian Empire, Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, the Archduchess Sophie. That happend on June 28, 1914, in Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina by a 19 year old Serbian, which was the spark which set off a serious of events leading up to World War One.

------------> Warfare BY ANY MEANS

There is Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, Armed Islamic Group, and Gamaa al-Islamiya. There is the Euzkadi ta Askatasuma (ETA or freedom for the Basque Homeland), and various Cuban Exile groups which the United States supported and perpetrated acts of terrorism against Cuba. -------- In the U.S. there are a lot of militant organizations who advocate, promote and carry out acts of violence. They are: the Arizona patriots, the Citizens' Militia, Montana Freemen, White Patriotic Party, Michigan militia, Bruder Schweigen and the sword and the arm of the Lord, the Klu Klux Klan and various American Nazis groups. ------------ There is also the Catalan Red Liberation Army in Spain, the Front de Liberation du Quebec's (FLQ) in Canada and Omega 7. The Armed Forces of National Liberation (Puerto Rican), the Palestinian Liberation Organization, the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia (ASALA) and the Justice Commando of the Armenian Genocide in Turkey. ------------ There are Sikh extremists (who assassinated prime minister Indira Gandhi of India in 1984 and bombed Air India jetliner that killed 329 people in Ireland in 1985. ---------- There is Osama bin Laden's Al Qaeda group and the Taliban which is supported by Pakistan and funded by Saudi Arabia.

-----------TODAY THEY ARE ANTI-WEST (anti-American)

Today, many guerilla terrorist organizations are anti-western and anti-zionist. Just as Bush says that the Taliban is "evil" so too America is viewed as "the Great Satan" which has been dominating, exploiting, oppressing and corrupting the world and Israel is artificially maintained in the Middle East because of U.S. support.

The U.S. response to terrorism has been to strike out at Afghanistan by bombing that country and causing hundreds of civilian deaths. Taking innocent life is also terrorism.

"A Chicago newspaper, asked by a reader if it were true that for every enemy soldier it killed in Vietnam the United STates was killing six civilians, replied that this was not true; we were killing only four civilians for every soldier." [Howard Zinn - On War]

It doesn't matter if the Taliban is right or we're right with regard to the number of civilians killed. The undeniable fact is we're killing civilians.

If you think a radicalized Afghanistan is a problem, consider what it will be like when because of our bombing Muslims in Afghanistan that Pakistan becomes more radicalized. Think about it. Pakistan has SEVEN TIMES THE POPULATION OF AFGHANISTAN AND NUCLEAR WEAPONS.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The flag represents allegiance to the "nation state" view which was first established in the 16th century and that view promulgates the position that nation states are to be held higher than human collective rights - that rights first belong to the state. This was a major shift in loyalty and morality and is basically a cultural trap to get you to obey the state. It is totalitarian. Respect for "law and order" (even obviously bad and immoral law), "patriotism", and elevating a piece of cloth, the "flag" above the misdeeds of American history, which it represents, as supreme values are all major characteristics of a totalitarian society.
