Expert: Terrorists Chose West Coast Flights for Fuel Load by Hugh Sprunt

--------------

Oh thank god, Disneyland is safe!

Let me assure the world that indeed Berkeley has not been taken over by right wing militia seeking a pro-active defense posture. Saner heads than Brad DeLong have prevailed here. Brad has been taken home under heavy sedation, mumbling about casualties in the millions. We will bring you all updates as they come to us.

The sun is still shinning, but the traffic has dwindled. I might go for a bike ride in the relative safety of empty streets if I can make it through the emergency preparedness operations in Berkeley, where my ex-wife, an honorary Fire Dept Captain works feverishly.

Meanwhile, the people's liberation movement here on Dwight Way has kicked back and is taking the day off.

I see at the Pentagon news conference, the Defense Secretary, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and Chairman of the Senate Arm Services, and now the Attorney General, Health and Human Services, and the Speaker of the House have all come crawling out of their bunkers to reassure us. At this rate GW will show up on camera just after the spokes-person for the White House housekeeping staff has finished telling us the cooks and maids are all okay. (Just saw George II's copter landing on the South Lawn. He seems to be looking to the skies, chewing on something---microwave chicken?).

Okay, I went off the deep end during this day of infamy. GW only had time for one microwave dinner on Air Force One and not ten like I predicted. Poor Dick Chaney had to struggle through the day on cold sandwiches following it all in the WH basement bunker (on CNN?), in the situation room. Bummer. All the local malls are closed down (probably fearing a wave of teenage looters---free from local schools today).

Nationwide Capital is under tight pucker.
