Bin Laden: The story that needs to be told

Bush is so incredibly inarticulate and unintelligent it is beyond comprehension. This "squinting" thing is no "Texas determination" (or whatever); his brain is simply *aching*. His tongue is tied and his eyes are vacuous. His words and his tone offer no comfort or reassurance at all. In contrast, as conservative as Powell is on economic and military issues, he comes off as intelligent and articulate, speaking his own words and thoughts extemporaneously, in a calm and rational manner.

Would it be too much to think that Powell is someone who would be much more progressive on at least some issues (e.g., race relations), if he ever got into the top spot?

The coverage of Israel/Palestine has been getting gradually better over the past few years, though far from perfect. Who knows what effect this will have, however.

As for Giuliani, his performance has been far more compassionate and confidence-inspiring than that of, say, Bush fleeing to his Nebraska nuclear shelter, or the rest of the administration hunkering down in "safe houses." Cheney was nowhere to be seen.
