I did title the post "fantasy." I was thinking in incremental terms, in
any case. Something akin to a mangey stray dog slithering up to the back
of a usually-reliable house and rather than it's getting the usual
scraps of meat tossed out, the screen door slams once in awhile instead.
Of course the administration is packed to the gills with pro-Israel
hawks, or it couldn't be a U.S. administration. But I think Bush is too
stupid and/or apathetic to give a damn about Israel either way and just
defers to the "wisdom" of others, and I think Powell, despite what he
says, understands something of the true nature of things in Palestine
but doesn't let on.
