It depends, of course, on who "we" is here. If "we" refers to leftists, then _destroying_ national unity is an accurate general description of our task. For a long time (up to and going beyond even an insurrection) a majority of the populace is going to be either passive or hostile to change. We need to mobilize ever large minorities on the one hand, and on the other hand divide the passive majority from the counter-revolutionary minority. Left analysis consists in identifying the potential rifts and exploiting them. Someone on one of these lists uses as a signature line Brecht's "In the contradiction resides the hope."
