---Depends on what working men and women you talk about. The ones calling in to NPR have not sounded so excited about the prospect of retaliationns leading to a new cycle of terrorist violence in the US. Funny, I guess what you mean is that anyone who opposes the warmaking rhetoric, calls to curtail civil liberties, etc. (like say Bishop Gumbleton, Grace Paley, National Lawyers' Guild..) are 'burning the flag'. Could it be that people who are now mobilizing against the Bush administration's war plans are in fact concerned about the possiblity that theirr children, nieces/nephews, grandchildren might be the next ones who made the 'wrong decision' to go to work or get ona plane/train,...go to a ball game...only to not be seen again? I would ask that you read carefully the note from the grieving parents who have taken an early stand against Bush's war plans and plans for inviting new rounds of WTC's. They too are just as proud of being New Yorkers...only thing is they don't want that fact abused by those with whom they have very little in common as far as interests go...
