And if, in the context of all that I said, some could think that allowing my daughters to put little American flags in our windows was a sign of jingoism, than I fear that we are so alienated from the nation in which we live, that we have lost all sense of proportion at this most critical time.
---Actually, it's wrong for you to suggest that people who are not supporting the war mongering rhetoric of Bush and Congress are less American than you are for letting your daughter put a flag in the window. Or that the grieving who don't join the war chorus are not real Americans... Then again, those of us who questioned Washington's policy of support for Islamic fundamentalists and training them in the art of terror against the Soviet Union were told we were not real Americans. Maybe if there were more people 20 years ago who were not real Americans, well maybe this week your daughter wouldn't have to put a flag in the window to show those terrorists whom we trained whatever is being shown by the flag waving these days...
