I'm all for grabbing Bin Laden and putting him on trial, if indeed he is responsible for these attacks. This would, I hope, lessen the pressure for total, endless war, at least here, since the Grand Demon would be in the dock. But I couple this with the idea that all war criminals should be treated the same, whether Bin Laden, Kissinger, Milosevic, Suharto, and so on. This will be tough to pull off since the US is unlikely to admit that its personnel and allies are war criminals. But given the room available, and the current mood, I see no other viable position.
