Indian coverage of UAE students. http://www.khaleejtimes.com/lead.htm "UAE students pursuing higher studies in the United States have been given the choice of either returning home or staying back in the US in the wake of harassment of Arabs and Muslims following last week's attacks in New York and Washington. This was stated yesterday by an official of the UAE Embassy in Washington DC. Abdullah Al Sebousi told Khaleej Times there was no truth in reports that the mission in the US had been directed by the UAE authorities to ask national students to discontinue their studies for the current semester and arrange for their return to the UAE.

"We have not received any such instruction and many UAE students have gone back to their colleges and are attending their classes as usual," Mr Al Sebousi said." .......

However, he added, the embassy had so far not received any report about a UAE national facing harassment. "A large number of our students we contacted said they were fine and safe and were not facing any problem whatsoever. However, some of them were a bit worried."

He added that many students contacted by the embassy were back to the normal pattern of life and were attending their classes regularly.

About 3,000 UAE students are at present studying in various specialisations in colleges and universities throughout the US. "Most of them are students sent by the government on scholarships, but there are many others who are studying on their own," Mr Sebousi said.
