Hokey smokes, PR is synonymous in most people's mind with BS. It makes no claims to anything other than trying to put some paying client in the best light. It is, as you say, "non-academic." Economics, OTOH, is a social "science." It makes ludicrous claims to being objective when its abiding aim is to tell people that there is no alternative to the global capitalist dispensation that now exists.
Besides, I am not now a PR writer. I am an *unemployed* PR writer, which gives me that much more time to Ponder Things Deeply and Speak Out on the Issues. Lucky you.
