Gitlin on the student peace movement

Against execution of prisoners.  "Criminals" - broad term.  As I said, I'm
not a pacifist and I prefer killing the opposition leaders to killing
luckless drafted soldiers sent to die on their leaders behalf.

But having no one get killed is the best alternative.  The question is how
to get there.
