The top two stories on that weird site www.antiwar.com are links to the English newspapers, the Sunday Times

http://www.sunday-times.co.uk/news/pages/sti/2001/09/23/stiusausa02036.html

and the News of the World

http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/4326959

from which I quote the opening paragraphs below:

MI6 SPIES FIND EVIL BIN LADEN

BRITISH intelligence agents have discovered the position of

terror chief Osama bin Laden.

A specialist MI6 squad — some working undercover in

Afghanistan — traced the Al-Queda leader to a desolate region

close to the town of Jalalabad on the country's north-east

border with Pakistan.

PM Tony Blair's official spokesman last night confirmed:

"Bin Laden is in Afghanistan. We know he is there, put it

that way."

When asked if Bin Laden's exact whereabouts had been

identified, he insisted: "We know where he is."

Something about the name & format of News of the World reminds me of Miami's Weekly World News, which this week reports that Hillary Clinton is enmeshed in a love affair with a space alien ("I thought she was gay!" sez ex-Pres) so you can take that News of the World article about "EVIL BIN LADEN" for whatever you think it's worth...

This week my eyes are on Pakistan, not Afghanistan. Who the Hell really wants Afghanistan anyway? But Pakistan may be ripe for an Iran-style popular Islamic revolution, and they've got a couple dozen nuclear bombs. If I'm going to speculate about what deep-n-nefarious plots those Islamic fundis might be up to, that's the scary spot. Yours WDK - WKiernan at concentric.net
