It is an attempt at a broader-based effort than just the remnants of SDUSA. There are a lot of the recognizable SDUSA names here, but before one is too dismissive remember that people like Paul Starr, founding editor of the _American Prospect_ and author of the classic _Social Transformation of American Medicine_, falls into the category of SDUSA intellectual. From what I can see, some of the issue addressed by their "Organizing Unions in the New Economy" conference are questions we need to address.
