I've mentioned the gargantuan size of the Russian shadow economy and the worthlessness of official statistics. I just came across some data that I thought might show this.

According to the Ministry of the Economy, the average official salary in Moscow is $210 a month. Also according to the Ministry, it roughly estimates that average monthly income for a family of three is $1,000.
