We clearly can't put it at the center of our activity, but I don't think this demand can ever be completely erased from any legitimate left program. A two-state 'solution' (the scare quotes are essential), provided the Palestinian state is a _real_ sovereign state which determines its own military and foreign policy, will bring temporary order -- but nothing except the state Chris describes will ever bring permanent peace to the area.
