Endless confusion seems to be generated by the spontaneous assumption of non-mathematicians (-physicists, biologists, etc) to realize that when a word is used in a specific scientific context it loses _all_ the meaning it carries in ordinary language. There has been an incredible amount of really stupid literary criticism written by critics who think "chaos" means chaos and "entropy" means entropy.
