At CNN's studios in Washington, Baer is talking about Saddam Hussein, the seemingly indomitable Butcher of Baghdad. Though he's off the air, he keeps right on opining in a guest lounge.
Four older women wander past, apparently part of a tour.
"Oh, what show did you do?" one of them asks Baer.
" 'CNN International,' on Iraq."
"We're going in there, right?"
"I don't think so now," he says. "We don't have a platform to send the tanks in. That's a problem: How are they going to get in? You can't drive them off an aircraft carrier."
