That appears to be the case. People are actually at greater risk for suicide right after their medication starts to work as well; they haven't truly emerged from depression but they now have much more energy to do ill to themselves.

Clinicians are generally urged to keep the closest watch on their patients immediately after they start them on antidepressant medication.
