MOSCOW. April 19 (Interfax) - Two thirds of Russians, 63%, are confident that proletarian leader Vladimir Lenin played a positive role in Russia's development, according to a poll conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation among 1,500 respondents on April 13.
Three years ago, 65% of Russians positively assessed Lenin's contribution
to history.
This year, 17% of the respondents negatively assessed Lenin's activities,
down from 23% in 1999.
Among those praising Lenin's role, Communist Party supporters account for
88%, poorly-educated people total 77%, the elderly amount to 75%, and the rural population reaches 73%.
