At a party meeting, there is a general discussion about current conditions which are not found to be terribly satisfying. To relieve the pressure, the leadership assures the people that current troubles are simply a result of the fact that they are in the transitional stage of socialism, but when communism arrives everything will be perfect.
The audience enthusiastically takes up this theme and Ivanov speaks up: "Comarades," he says, "When Communism comes, we will all have washing machines!!!!" Everybody claps and cheers. Then Alexandrovitch takes a turn, "And Comarades, when communism gets here, we will all have television sets!!!" Again clapping, cheering, and hurrahs. Next, Pavlovitch takes his turn, "That's nothing comarades," he says, "when communism gets here, we will all have helicopters!!!" The audience quietly mulls this over, finally Ivanov replies, "But comarade, I don't understand, why would we want helicopters?"
"Aaah," says Pavlovitch, "You live in Moscow...and you find out that in Vladivovstock they're selling tomatoes...you hop in your helicopter...."
