I thought that China's first move on steel was to protest the counter-measures of Europe against the USA, which were hitting her too.

But although the tactless remark was spoken in jest no doubt, it shows how close to the surface the inter-imperialist rivalries are getting.

It is very foolish tactically because it will exacerbate a tendency for Europe and east Asia to unite against US hegemonism.

This trend will little by little continue.
