Moscow, 29 April: Communist Party leader Gennadiy Zyuganov has called for a thorough investigation of the helicopter crash which killed Krasnoyarsk governor Aleksandr Lebed.
"It would be premature to say that it was a tragic accident, especially as Lebed clashed with the powerful mafia after he took office and tried to resist the embezzlement of the Krasnoyarsk Territory," Zyuganov said on Radio-1 on Monday [29 April]. "Gen Lebed had many opponents and enemies," he said.
The crash "looks very much like an accident, but every accident has its regularities," he remarked.
