BTW, Lukashenko wants a Union with Russia (in which Russia continues to give Belarus lots of cheap gas and other resources) with him as effective co-president. This idea was originally developed during Yeltsin. Why? (Hint -- in the event of the Russian president's death, the Belarussian president would become president of the Union, and Yeltsin is an old and very sick man...)
