* Late yesterday, at a Landless People's Movement protest at the office of Johannesburg ("Gauteng") regional governor Mbhazima Shilowa -- formerly the general secretary of the Congress of SA Trade Unions (1994-99) -- there were nearly 100 arrests. The protest, demanding access to land, was non-violent and the police had no grounds for swiping the entire leadership of the LPM.
* A really excellent protest is anticipated today at a major corporation in the heart of Sandton. Follow the action at a major corporate-campaigners conference at http://www.groundwork.org.za

Indymedia's local site has been giving trouble (http://southafrica.indymedia.org) but keep trying via http://www.indymedia.org, where there are lots of linked stories about the WSSD, the New Partnership for Africa's Development and the numerous local struggles for Aids medicines, community services, fair wages and many others.
