actually it was in 1984, and in the circumstances of his historic effort in the USA, and its reduction to Israel policy, it was infuriating to large segments of black america, some of which are not likely to feel warm and fuzzy over the recent attacks on black pols in alabama and georgia...
it would do us all well to develop a sensitivy to our rotten racial history and its present impact, at least to the level that some of us still seem to insist on re historic jewish suffering, which happened in other places, in other times.
