This is true of both, China and India. The difference is that the skewed nature of sex ratios in India is not a result of the state policy. In China it has been accentuated by one child policy and this has gone on for over 20 years. It is impossible for any political party in India to even propose such a policy, let alone implement it.

Btw, the current controvery raging in India is about the law on rape/sexual assault.
