(Incidentally, a very prominent Milton critic that I can't stand, Barbara Lewalski, goes out of her way to argue that Eve is (a) not as smart as Adam and (b) not as good a poet as Adam. Does Harvard make a point of hiring as full professors women who have taken their crack at feminism?)
