On a related note, there's a great anecdote about when Shamil Basayev was talking to a Russian correspondent in 1996, talking about how much he missed the Soviet Union. "Do you think I was always a fighter in khakis with a beard? I was a Pioneer! I too sang the song "My home is the Soviet Union!"" MHITSU was a popular pop song about travelling around the USSR that goes "I have no address or street, my address is the Soviet Union!" Pretty damn catchy song too.
