Later on there was a disagreeable incident when the platform refused to allow the leader of Trudavaya Rossiya, Viktor Anpilov, to speak from the platform. ----- Anpilov is editor of Zavtra, which is an extremist, ultra-nationalist newspaper. He's politically an incredible creep, but a damn good writer and, anecdotally, a really nice guy one-on-one. He made lots of friends in the Western press corps, just 'cause he's so likeable.

Limonov, btw, is a hilarious novelist. Yrs. before I ever heard of the NBP, I read his Grove Press, "It's Me, Eddie!, " his autobiographical acct. of being a taxi-driver in NYC. "Eddie, " briefly joins a Maoist group in NYC and has various sexual escapades. One wonders what the real Limonov thinks about the bi-sexual, "Eddie." there. ---- In "Dnevnik neudachnikov," which was recently translated into English as "Diary of a Loser" but was first published back in 1983, Limonov says "I've stopped being a fag."
