Wait a second- apples and oranges. The issue before was where to spend the time that is devoted to electoral politics between the Dems and third party voting. A totally separate issue is how much time to devote to electoral organizing versus non-electoral work such as union work.

I am very biased towards non-electoral organizing as the key work of leftists, since success there is far more likely to translate into social change, whether in the immediate benefits and power conveyed or in strengthening peoples movements in whatever electoral work they do based on that non-electoral power.

I fully endorse the idea that TDU and Solidarity folks have a lot to show for their union work; I just think they have almost nothing to show for their electoral work. But I would not urge that they substitute work on Dem campaigns for their union work.
