Besides having poor taste in husbands, Mrs. L has an amazingly tin ear for public sensibilities. Fighting for your life, fighting for your honor, etc. are aims that could be expected to elicit some sympathy from Middle America.
But fighting for *liquidity*?! The woman sounds like a goddamned accountant herself.
