Scandal angle
JUST call him "Enron Al." Presidential wannabe Rev. Al Sharpton wants to use the Enron mess as a springboard to the White House. The perspicacious pol huddled with Democratic strategist Hank Sheinkopf yesterday at Cipriani Downtown, and proposed making the Enron scandal a cornerstone of his populist campaign. Sheinkopf, who's mulling signing on with Sharpton, says the Enron issue "would give him tremendous public recognition and it would broaden his base beyond minority voters." As for Sharpton's chances in 2004, Sheinkopf said, "If he can get on the ballot in 20 states, he's in the game."
